Authentic Chinese Restaurant That’s Definitely Worth Your Taste Buds. What?! $1 BBQ Meat Skewers?

Walking along Tyrwhitt Road where several famous cafes were situated, we spotted a Chinese restaurant that has an adorable Panda Logo imprinted on a red signboard.

This casual dining restaurant offers both outdoor dining (Alfresco) and indoor dining. My buddies and I chose to dine at the bright airy dining hall as it was pouring outside. The dining hall was clean, bright, and definitely a comfortable place for a casual catch-up with friends. The staff was friendly and polite as well.

With a wide selection from $1 BBQ skewers to famous Chinese delicacies, we were spoilt for choices. It took us a long time to finally decide on these popular dishes listed below:

– Herbal Pig Stomach and Chicken Soup ($16.50)

– Chongqing Fried Intestines 辣子θ‚₯θ‚  17.50

– Stir Fry Cabbage ($13.50)

– Salted Egg Corn ($9.50)

– Grilled Oysters ($28.80)

– Mentaiko Scallop ($20.00)

– Mutton & Chicken Skewers ($6.00)

The dishes were all cooked to perfection with addictive spices and packed with flavour.Β

We started with Herbal Pig Stomach and Chicken Soup, which is a unique version of the usual peppery pig stomach soup as it is not fiery. Surprisingly, has an aromatic dang gui flavour that is very comforting for our bellies and it is also suitable for kids.Β

We have heard of Chongqing Chicken but Chongqing Fried Intestines was new to me. Those fried Intestines are a perfect mix of spice and chilli and they are so chewy, so addictive!

One of the hidden dishes, Stir Fry Cabbage looks plain but once I took a bite, I was sold. The cabbage and meat have a good mix of seasoning and it was topped with theΒ  ‘WOK-HEY’ aroma, which was overpowering and simply savory.Β

Another China Taste SG’s signature dish popular with kids, Salted Egg Corn, has a well-balanced buttery and milky sweet flavor that is appetising and a great starter to the meal.Β

Grilled Oysters were well marinated with aromatic garlic and spices. There was no ‘raw’ oyster taste that even someone like me who doesn’t eat oysters likes it! Mentaiko Scallops had a perfect unami bland of mentaiko and mayonnaise.Β

Last but not least, China Taste SG offer these $1 BBQ Skewers that are not only addictive but very well seasoned in their secret marination. Remember to order some beer to pair with these delectable dishes while you’re here! 5 pints of Heineken is only $23 nett!

We definitely had a good time enjoying these savoury dishes from this underrated restaurant. Their food is excellent and much cheaper than bigger Chinese restaurants. What’s more, the prices have stayed the same since opening in early 2013! We will definitely come back to try out other dishes!

Founded by a true blue Singaporean, China Taste SG offers a variety of Chinese BBQ as well as Singaporean Chinese fusion cuisine at very affordable prices with no GST and service charges! Come and try their cuisines today!
